Dr. Amanda Mathews grew up in Dubuque, Iowa and attended Loyola University Chicago. She graduated from The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in 2008 and then completed her residency in Family Medicine at Ventura County Medical Center in 2011. In 2015, she started working at HealthLinc and after a few years accepted the role of Assistant Site Medical Director of the Valparaiso clinic with an emphasis on leading their Porter Starke site as well. Their Porter Starke clinic has the mission to improve the disparity of medical care in patients with chronic mental illness.
She chose family medicine because she loved the variety that every day would bring and the flexibility to mold her practice to her strengths. HealthLinc strongly supports a team approach to health that has allowed her to treat Hepatitis C with the clinical pharmacists. Teaching is her passion and it brings her joy. She strives to challenge – yet support – her students and residents so they can truly grow.
During her time away from the clinic, she loves being with her family – her husband and three daughters. She enjoys running (mostly 5Ks for now) and travel (Rome is a favorite). She is always up for a game night or movie night. Her husband would tell you that she watches way too much reality TV.
