The love of science set in motion my desire to build a career as a Family Physician. After graduating from medical school in China with my newly minted MD, I was selected from my graduating class to accept a full comprehensive scholarship to obtain my PhD in Cancer Research funded by the European Union. Publishing four papers in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at international conferences led to my being recruited by the Department of Physiology, University of Toronto as a Cancer Research Postdoctoral fellow. My extensive research experience has given me the knowledge of how medical breakthroughs in the test tubes can become lifesaving clinical advances on the front line of clinical care. After moving to Canada, I received my Canadian Certificate of Physician Assistant at McMaster University. My last five years in the Canadian Health Care system practicing family medicine have given me strong problem-solving and clinical skills that have enabled me to become a successful evidence-based practitioner.
