Our program is spearheaded by a dedicated group of physician educators with years of experience as faculty in university- and hospital-based residency education training. We took the best characteristics of both training atmospheres to create our program’s educational pedagogy. We use our mission and aims to guide our training offerings and elevate our clinical and educational work environment for our future residents so they are supported in growing their medical knowledge and clinical skills towards becoming board-certified physicians in Internal Medicine or one of its many subspecialties.
Located an hour away from Chicago, the geographical placement of our primary clinical sites and other participating sites allows residents who match into our program the best of both worlds – from a bustling urban city environment to a suburban safe haven with quiet, rolling hills of countryside between. Whether you’re interested in night life, the great outdoors, or city living, having a program with its home base in Porter, Indiana, becomes incredibly advantageous for all who train at our hospital.
Lastly, our program is supported by Health Education Services (HES, ACGME ID: 470075) as its ACGME-accredited sponsoring institution. HES approaches graduate medical education with the clinical, educational, and well-being needs of residents and faculty placed as the forefront in all they do. Choosing to place your trust in us for your next phase of physician education and training means you have the full backing and support of local, regional, and national leaders of Community Health Systems, one of the largest healthcare systems in the United States.
